My Titles

I can think up some weird titles.

The title of Lady of the Stars, my Regency time travel novella, is not too crazy. But what about Pumpkinnapper, my Regency Halloween comedy?

What's a pumpkinnapper, you ask? Here's the one line blurb: Pumpkin thieves, a youthful love rekindled and a jealous goose. Oh, my!

As further examples of my penchant for weird titles, here are some of the titles of my posts:

Oh, No, Not Another Author Blog!-- My very first post. Probably shows it.
How I Started--Writing, That Is--My beginnings as a writer. Yawn.
To Blog Or Not To Blog, That Is The Question (My Apologies to the Bard)-- Blogging takes a lot of time. Does it help sell books? You got me.
And How Did You Become An Author? Success out of failure. Or maybe I'm just too stupid to give up.

And then we have my blog's Shameless Promotion series--subtitled Linda's Adventures in Promotion Land:
Shameless Promotion
Shameless Promotion II
Shameless Promotion, Again
More Shameless Promotion (Does She Ever Stop?)
Shameless Promotion. Again??!!!
Shameless Promotion - It Never Ends

And the titles I like the best, from right here on Happily Ever After:

Gorgeous Men in Tight Breeches & Ruffled Shirts
Gorgeous Men in Tight Breeches and Ruffled Shirts II

This series is my ode to Regency gentlemen's clothing. (What did you think it was?) I have to write a few more posts in the same vein. We can never have too many gorgeous men in our lives. **grins**

Do titles catch your interest? What do you like in a title?

Thank you all,
Linda

Love them, Linda!

Especially the Gorgeous blokes series and the Shameless series!

Do you find titles hard to get?

No, never too many gorgeous men in our lives... unless they're cads, of course.

Ah, titles, you gotta luv 'em. I was just doing a search on titles. Before I officially title my books I like to do a search to see if there are any other books with that title already. And, often, you find some interesting other stuff.

Titles must be in the winds these days, or a popular blog topic.

Linda, I liked your approach!

Like Lindsay asked: Do you find titles hard to get?

Perhaps, we could blog on how the titles to our novels came about. And the process we go through to title.

Right now, I'm stuck on names for a hero and heroine... for a short story.

You are funny.

Thanks, Lindsay and Savanna. Yes, never too many gorgeous men. And because they're my gorgeous men, they're exactly the kind I like--decent ones.

I have no idea how I get my titles. Some just come to me. And some come only after thinking up and discarding many.

LOL, Jennifer. Yup, I'm wacked out!

Linda--I knew you were good, but I didn't really know you are so clever and witty! Oh, yes, I like titles, but I can only think of mundane ones--not good with titles. The one about success reminds me of a line I saw on someone's blog--"when you experience success, try not to look so shocked."
I enjoyed this very much. I was taking a break from editing, etc. and thought I'd find something interesting--I found your post! Thanks! Celia

Ah Celia, you're great for my ego. Thank you so much. And your titles are just fine.

I've always been fond of PUMPKINAPPER.

I love Pumpkinnapper! It's really cute.

I'm terrible at titles. I came up with one that I just loved only to realize later that it has an unintended innuendo in it. Oops. There is someone in my critique group that is great at them, so I always have to pick her brain.

Thanks, Dani and Jocelyn. I like Pumpkinnapper, too. I must have been inspired. *g*

Jocelyn, I suggest you save that title with the innuendo until you need it. Titles like that can be a lot of fun.
