Romancing my Stallion of Ash and Flame

Excitement down to my toesies, everyone, and some happy dancing or in my case, just bouncing up and down. My erotic romance novel, STALLION OF ASH AND FLAME is being published by Siren-BookStrand with an e-pub date of November 2009 and a print date of April 2010.
This is my very first story written only from the male POV. I so hope readers enjoy it.

Here’s the rough blurbie ~

Drojovv Zyan of the V’Trailuc Realm is a man-stallion of ash and flame on a mission to save his world’s crucial Earth portal from the fires ravaging the National Forest surrounding it. Pretending to be the tracker, Trail, he settles in a small southeastern Arizona town. When he gets an eyeful of the beautiful ranch owner, Seneca, he stud lusts after the Earth human, a woman he’s not supposed to take as his Mate.
Trail leaves her alone until her brother is in a bad motorcycle accident and she needs a hired hand. Soon both of them are threatened by a whole horde of enemies. At all costs Trail must protect her. His world depends on it, her world depends on it. And his heart comes to depend on it.

Happy Summer, everyone!

I think it's good Siren-Bookstrand let you write completely in the male POV. From what I hear, romance novels are supposed to be more female POV, probably because mainly women read them.

My stuff tends to come out more male POV, too. I'm not sure why.

Wow - I love male POV in a romance novel! What a treat, Savanna! Your Stallion of Ash and Flame sounds wonderfully readable!
Many congratulations!

I Linda - I'm also with you. I like to see and to write male POV in romance.

Linda, that's the prevailing wisdom and it makes sense, of course. I simply went with my inspiration and I am an experimental writer. I wanted to give it a try.

Lindsay, thanks. I'm hoping it is readable and enjoyable to those who enjoy shapeshifter adventure love stories.

The scenes I've read in your novels from the male POV have been fantastic!

Hi Savanna, and thank you. When I started writing as a teenager I found it easier to write as if I was a bloke. No idea why.

Anyone else find that?

(Although I did have some spectacular mistakes! One was writing about the Greek hero Menelaos 'mincing' off the boat. I'd just discovered the word and I was determined to use it. I was eleven at the time.)

Lindsay ~ 'mincing' off the boat... that's hysterical. 'Course at eleven I could have done the same!

I think there could be several explanations for writing from the male POV as a natural... if you believe in other lifetimes, then being a man in those lifetimes could influence the way we write.
As a woman, if you're running more of the male hormone, like a lot of tom boy girls do, that could also be a factor.
Just musings, though. I don't really know.

What a majestic creature, Savanna!

The story sounds wonderful.

You speak truth, I think, of the tom-boy girl being more comfortable with the male pov. That is so me.

I prefer writing the male pov. I find it easier.

Wow, Savanna! Congrats on your summer release! Yes, I love male pov too, whyever not? He's just as much part of the romance story as she is! So give me both povs, please, but preferably not in the same chapter. ;-)) Here's wishing you much success and many, many sales!

Bekki, it would be interesting to take an unofficial poll somewhere, asking how many tomboys like writing the male POV.

Savanna Kougar said...

Hey, Jane, I so agree with you about the hero's POV being expressed. I feel strongly about it, even though I have written one novella from the heroine's POV.

And, I confess. I've often been naughty and didn't do each POV by chapter.
